Four frames, one rider. All failed at chainstay/dropout junction, all at approximately 20,000-25,000km use.

• 1995 Performance R205, bought 1995, failed 1998

  Steel. Failed at chainstay/dropout junction, accelerating from a stop. Rear hub was as from manufacturer.

• 1997 Performance R207, bought 1998, failed 2001

  Steel. Failed at chainstay/dropout junction. Rear hub was as from manufacturer.

• 2001 Performance R207, warranty replacement 2001, failed 2004/06

  Steel. Failed at chainstay/dropout junction, climbing while standing. Rear hub was Rolf Vector.

  

• 2004 LeMond Zurich, bought 2004, failed 2006/05

  Steel. Failed at chainstay/dropout junction, while accellerating hard from a stop. Discovered by sound of tire rubbing, wobbly handling. Steel frame. Rear hub originally Bontrager as from manufacturer; after rim damage at about 6,000km, replaced with Rolf Vector.

  

Rider's typical riding is rolling hills. Climbing is mixed sitting and standing. Total bike+rider+gear approx 95-100kgf.
