Frame failure

The owner reports his first frame failed similarly shortly after purchase and was replaced under warranty. This one was ridden 12-14 years and failed when his son rode with the seat set slighlty higher. Used with long (MTB-ish) seatpost, amount of insertion here or at failure not known. Two fractures: between seatstay and ``lug''; and between ``lug'' and seat tube. Bike ridden in San Francisco Bay Area, suggesting failure not related to corrosion. Assorted expoxy, bolts are attempts to hold together, so far 6-8 months of regular modest use (weekend 50 mile rolling hill rides). Photo from 2005, suggesting frame manufactured in early 1990's.
